14.01.2014KD, finančna družba, d.d., Dunajska cesta 63, Ljubljana, hereby informs the public that today, 14 January 2014, received a decision from the Insurance Supervisory Agency, in which the Agency determines that the KD – AS financial conglomerate, which was established by a decision of the Insurance Supervisory Agency dated 22 September 2010, has ceased to exist. Consequently, the group, which has two parent entities or holding companies at the top of its vertical structure (KD, finančno družbo d.d., and KD Group, finančno družbo, d.d.), both of which are considered mixed financial holding companies for the purposes of the Financial Conglomerates Act, with KD, financial company, d.d., Dunajska cesta 63, Ljubljana, as the parent at the top, is no longer a financial conglomerate.
In 2012, the KD Group took a strategic decision to reduce the activities which, under the Financial Conglomerates Act, fall within the banking sector and the securities market sector, to a level below the threshold at which the KD Group would no longer meet the conditions for being classified as a financial conglomerate. As part of the implementation of this strategy, KD Banka was sold in its entirety, whilst the KD Group reduced its stake in Deželna banka Slovenije to below 20 per cent, thereby ceasing to meet the conditions and criteria for a financial conglomerate.
The KD Group will continue to pursue its strategy of becoming one of the leading insurance groups, with its main market in Slovenia and subsidiaries in the Balkans, whilst also offering high-quality asset management and investment products.
This announcement will also be published on the company’s website, www.kd-fd.si, under ‘Public Announcements’ from 14 January 2014 onwards.
